Just Hold It
Just Hold It
I’ll call her Ms K. A
creative soul, she artfully approaches storing and displaying with practicality and
unbounded resourcefulness. Yes, there’s the
vintage earthenware holding wooden spoons and ladles. But note the government-issue bookcases repurposed
to serve as cupboards, boasting edible staples like canned and dry goods. Look toward the ceiling in her craft-filled kitchen
and find TWO ladders hung horizontally to display her collection of pepper
grinders.

Home is Where the ART is
In this blog I intend to capture the respect and the
creativity people give to the spaces in and around their homes. Through
photographs, artworks and stories, I will convey universal themes and unique
inspirations seen in living spaces across America, everything from the simple –
cleanliness, orderliness and safety – to the sublime – quirky collections,
repurposed furnishings and hand-made crafts.
Distinct from the homes looming across the pages of
advertisement-driven shelter magazines, the dwellings I present may not have
the shiniest appliances or the plushest carpets, but they will illuminate the
time-tested efforts that are both necessary and rewarding.
Images alone could carry the story of home-centric
creativity, yet an occasional, brief interview will add another layer to their
purpose and importance. Quotes from individuals – homeowners or renters – whose
handiwork is presented will extend the narrative and authenticate perspective.
Join me as I explore the cradle of creativity – our
homes. Feel free to send me photos or quotes or poems that reflect your notion
of an inspired home:
